Intención del curso en el contexto general del plan de estudios: |

Es un curso básico de posgrado en el área ciencias computacionales, el cual cubre los temas principales de Matemáticas aplicadas a ciencias computacionales. Dichos temas incluyen Matemáticas Discretas, Lógica, Probabilidad, Estadística, Optimización Lineal y Álgebra Lineal. Dichos temas son ilustrados a través de aplicaciones en problemas de ciencias computacionales, tales como algoritmos, estructuras de datos, inferencia lógica y probabilística, redes, y lenguajes de programación. El curso requiere conocimientos básicos de Matemáticas, Cálculo y Álgebra. |

Objetivo general de la Unidad de Formación: |

Al completar el curso, los estudiantes serán capaces de:
- Conocer los principales tópicos de matemáticas que aplica un científico en computación. - Entender la forma en como los métodos matemáticos son aplicados en problemas de ciencias computacionales. - Aplicar los principales métodos matemáticos en problemas de ciencias computacionales y analizar su solución. - Aplicar software matemático para describir y resolver problemas matemáticos en ciencias computacionales. |

Course intention within the general study plan context: |
|||||
It is a basic graduate course (Ph.D. and Master) in Computer Science, which overviews the main themes of Mathematics as applied to Computer Science. These themes include Discrete Mathematics, Logic, Probability, Statistics, Linear Optimization and Linear Algebra. The names themes are illustrated by its application to Computer Science problems, like Algorithms, Data Structures, Inference, Computability, Computer Networks, and Programming Languages. The course requires basic knowledge of Mathematics, Calculus, and Algebra. |

- Know the main topics of Mathematics employed by Computer Scientists. - Understand the way in which mathematical methods are employed in Computer Science problems. - Apply the main mathematical methods to Computer Science problems to analyze their solution. - Use mathematical software to define and solve mathematical problems in Computer Science. |
