Intención del curso en el contexto general del plan de estudios: |

Es un curso de nivel avanzado en el área de economía orientado a modelar las decisiones de la empresa en diferentes estructuras de mercado y a estudiar las consecuencias de las mismas. Requiere conocimientos previos sobre teoría de la producción, de costos de las diferentes estructuras de mercado y de teoría de juegos. Como resultado de aprendizaje el alumno tendrá una comprensión amplia de la manera en que las herramientas analíticas se emplean para modelar la forma en que se comportan las empresas e interactúan en la industria, así como de las consecuencias de tal comportamiento e interacción. |

Al finalizar este curso el alumno será capaz de conocer los diversos mecanismos utilizados por las empresas para competir (carrera de patentes, fijación de precios, empresa líder, etc.), y las consecuencias a nivel de industrias de tales mecanismos. |

Course intention within the general study plan context: |

The purpose of this advanced economics course is for students to be able to model company decisions in different market structures and study the consequences of those decisions. The course requires previous knowledge of production theory, costs and market structures. The learning outcome of this course is for students to have a broad understanding of how analytical tools are used to model the way in which companies behave and interact in industry. |

Upon completion of this course, students will be familiar with the diverse mechanisms used by companies to compete (patent race, pricing, leading company, etc.), and the consequences of these mechanisms at industry level. |
