Este curso de nivel introductorio explora los conceptos de utopía y distopía a través de la revisión y análisis de obras literarias y cinematográficas como textos culturales que no simplemente reflejan nuestras normas sociales, creencias y valores culturales, sino que los moldean activamente y nos proporcionan a espectadores y lectores material para repensar nuestras circunstancias actuales e imaginar mundos de manera diferente.

Como resultado del aprendizaje, los estudiantes desarrollarán sus habilidades críticas de análisis e interpretación de textos culturales para comprender el sentido estético e ideológico de estas obras, así como para reflexionar de manera más profunda acerca de su posición como individuos frente a un momento histórico infodémico saturado de representaciones del pasado, presente y futuro.

Objetivo general de la Unidad de Formación:  

Al finalizar el curso, el estudiante será capaz de:

- Reflexionar sobre los cambios actuales del mundo y discernir los cambios actuales. contrastándolos con perspectivas utópicas y distópicas.

- Analizar fenómenos del presente previstos por autores del pasado.

- Distinguir conceptos, géneros, autores y textos clave.

- Distinguir las principales obras literarias y cinematográficas.

El(la) instructor(a) debe contar con experiencia en la enseñanza de literatura, filosofía, estudios culturales, estudios críticos, sociología, antropología, y en el análisis de textos de diversos formatos y géneros, principalmente de la ciencia ficción.

Course intention within the general study plan context:  

the review and analysis of literary and cinematic works as cultural texts that not simply reflect our social norms, beliefs, and cultural values, but actively shape them and provide viewers and readers with material to rethink our current circumstances and imagine worlds differently.

As a learning outcome, students will develop their critical skills of analysis and interpretation of cultural texts to understand the aesthetic and ideological sense of these works produce, as well as to reflect more deeply on their position as individuals in the face of an infodemic historical moment saturated with representations of the past, present and future.

Course objective:

- Reflect upon the present-day changes of the world and discern current changes by contrasting them with utopian and dystopian perspectives.

- See what phenomena of the present were foreseen by the authors of the past

- Distinguish concepts, genres, authors, and key texts.

- Distinguish main literary and film works.
