Intención del curso en el contexto general del plan de estudios:  

Es un curso introductorio de inglés, de nivel básico, que tiene como intención educativa que el estudiante desarrolle sus habilidades de comunicación en inglés en contextos sociales y académicos a nivel A2. Requiere que el alumno haya alcanzado un nivel A1+ en el curso de Inglés II o en algún curso anterior. Asimismo, requiere conocimientos previos del sistema de enunciación en inglés: la sintaxis de las oraciones simples y compuestas; la forma y función de las partes de la oración, los tiempos simples y perfectos del presente, los tiempos simples del pasado y futuro, la voz activa y pasiva de los tiempos simples. Como resultado de aprendizaje el alumno reconocerá y utilizará de manera adecuada las estructuras sintácticas del inglés.

Objetivo general de la Unidad de Formación:  

Al finalizar el curso, el alumno será capaz de:

- Comprender frases y vocabulario relacionados a las áreas de relevancia personal más inmediatas.

- Captar el punto principal en mensajes y anuncios cortos, claros y sencillos.

- Leer textos muy cortos y sencillos.

- Encontrar información predecible en material cotidiano como anuncios, menús y horariosomprender cartas personales sencillas y cortas.  

- Iniciar, mantener y cerrar un conversación cara a cara sencilla y restringida.

- Gestionar intercambios sencillos y rutinarios sin esfuerzo indebido con el fin de hacerse entender e intercambiar ideas e información sobre temas conocidos en situaciones cotidianas predecibles, siempre y cuando la otra persona ayude si es necesario.

Course intention within the general study plan context:  

This is a basic level English introductory course that has as an educational objective that the student develop his/her English communication skills in social and academic contexts at an A2 level.  It requires the student to have achieved an A1+ level in the English II course or in any other previous course.  It also requires previous knowledge of the English enunciation system: the syntax of simple and compound sentences, the form and function of the parts of a sentence, the simple and perfect tenses of the present, the simple and perfect tenses of the past and future, the active and passive voice of the simple tenses.  As a result of learning, the student will be able to recognize and use in an appropriate way the syntactic structures of English.

Course objective:  

Upon completion, the student will understand phrases and vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance and will be able to catch the main point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements; read very short, simple texts; find predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, menus and timetables; and understand short simple personal letters. In this course the student will also begin working towards the general language objectives of the Common European Framework of Reference A2+ level: initiate, maintain and close simple, restricted face-to-face conversation; understand enough to manage simple, routine exchanges without undue effort; make him/herself understood and exchange ideas and information on familiar topics in predictable everyday situations, provided the other person helps if necessary; communicate successfully on basic themes if he/she can ask for help to express what he wants to; deal with everyday situations with predictable content, though he/she will generally have to compromise the message and search for words; interact with reasonable ease in structures situations, given some help, but participation in open discussion is restricted.
