Intención del curso en el contexto general del plan de estudios:  

Es un curso de nivel avanzado, que tiene la intención que el alumno conozca y ponga en práctica las diversas estrategias para desarrollar su habilidad para traducir textos o interpretar situaciones. Se incluirán conceptos relacionados con la morfología, sintáctica y semántica del inglés y el español con el fin de identificar patrones de semejanzas y diferencias.  Requiere conocimiento de un nivel avanzado del idioma inglés y español. Como resultado del aprendizaje el alumno será capaz de analizar las estructuras, identificar frases o situaciones equivalentes en el idioma meta con el fin de lograr un producto fiel al sentido y significado del idioma origen.

Objetivo general de la Unidad de Formación:  

Al finalizar el curso el alumno será capaz de:

- Desarrollar las competencias centrales, relevantes y globales para desempeñar las tareas como traductor o intérprete.

- Identificar las semejanzas y diferencias entre el idioma inglés y el español.

- Analizar problemas en la traducción en diversos ambientes.

- Practicar las estrategias de traducción más comunes.

- Reconocer términos y equivalentes en diversas disciplinas.

- Conocer los retos de la interpretación y la traducción de textos literarios.

Course intention within the general study plan context:  

It is an advanced level course, its intention is that the students to learn and practice several strategies to translate texts or interpret situations. The concepts related to Morphology, Syntax and Semantics will be reviewed in the English and Spanish Language in order to identify patterns for similarities and differences. The student is required to have an upper intermediate level in the English and Spanish language. As a learning outcome, students will be able to analyze structures, identify phrases or equivalent situations in the target language so that he is able to create a final product that has the same sense and meaning as the Source Language

Course objective:  

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

- Develop Central, Relevant and Global Competencies to perform the tasks as a translator and/or interpreter.

- Identify the similarities and Differences between the English and Spanish languages.

- Analyze translation problems in diverse contexts.

- Practice the most common Translation Strategies.

- To identify terms and equivalences in diverse disciplines.

- To address the challenges in the interpretation and translation of literary texts.
