Intención del curso en el contexto general del plan de estudios: |

|
Es un curso de nivel básico que tiene la intención de desarrollar en el alumno su capacidad de abstracción y de resolución de problemas orientados al estudio de la estadística, enfatizando en las técnicas que se utilizan con mayor frecuencia en la investigación social. Requiere conocimientos previos de álgebra básica y funciones. Como resultado del aprendizaje el alumno aplicará las técnicas de análisis estadísticos descriptivos e inferenciales que sean necesarias para obtener información de interés sobre un conjunto de datos y sobre las relaciones que guardan entre sí. |

Objetivo general de la Unidad de Formación: |

| Fomentar en el alumno la capacidad de organizar y resumir los datos, así como también enseñarle la manera de tomar decisiones cuando tiene una gran cantidad de datos, examinando sólo una pequeña parte de ellos. Familiarizar al alumno con el concepto de variabilidad. Reconocer a la estadística como una ciencia en la cual el desarrollo y aplicación de métodos y técnicas para colección, análisis e interpretación de datos cuantitativos de una investigación social es conducido de tal manera que la confiabilidad de las conclusiones basada sobre esos datos debe ser evaluada objetivamente por medio de leyes probabilísticas. | |||||

Course intention within the general study plan context: |

|
This basic level course has the objective of developing students' capacity for abstraction and problem solving in the area of statistics. It makes emphazis in the techniques most commonly used in social research. This course requires prior knowledge of basic algebra and functions. The learning outcome of this course is for students to apply the techniques of decriptive and inferential statistical analysis required to obtain information of interest about a set of data and the relations between them. |

| To foster in the student the capacity to organize and summarize data, as well as to teach him the way to make decisions when he/she has a great quantity of data, only by examining a small part of them. To familiarize the student with the concept of variability. To consider Statistics as a science in which the development, method application and collection techniques, analysis and interpretation of quantitative data in a social research is led in such a way that the reliability of the conclusions based on these data should be evaluated objectively by means of probabilistic laws. | |||||
