Intención del curso en el contexto general del plan de estudios:

La materia de clínica hospitalaria de pediatría es un curso avanzado donde se busca que los alumnos sean responsables y estén conscientes de las necesidades de salud de los niños y adolescentes en contextos hospitalarios, además tengan conciencia de la realidad de los niños de nuestro país, tanto del sector público como del sector privado de la medicina, brinden respeto a la dignidad de las personas, capaces de aprender y conducirse con ética y profesionalismo en la atención del paciente pediátrico gravemente enfermo y a sus angustiados cuidantes, en un marco donde prevalezcan los más altos valores. Como producto de aprendizaje el alumno creará un portafolio de los casos analizados durante su rotación a fin de evidenciar la adquisición de competencias adquiridas.

Objetivo general de la Unidad de Formación:

Esta materia tiene como objetivo que el estudiante participe del quehacer clínico del pediatra en el contexto intrahospitalario de segundo y tercer nivel de atención, aplicando los conocimientos teóricos diagnósticos, terapéuticos y de prevención, a la vez que desarrolla sus habilidades inquisitivas, de tamización, documentación y psicomotoras necesarias para ayudar al paciente pediátrico gravemente enfermo y a sus angustiados cuidantes, en un marco donde prevalezcan los más altos valores.

Course intention within the general study plan context:

The pediatrics hospital rotation is an advanced course that teaches students to be responsible for and aware of children's and adolescents? health needs in hospital contexts; to be aware of the reality of children in our country, in both the public and private healthcare sectors; to respect peoples dignity; and to learn and to behave in an ethical, professional manner while caring for seriously ill pediatric patients and their concerned care-givers, within a framework of the highest values. Learning outcome: Students will create a portfolio of the cases analyzed during their rotation in order to demonstrate that they have mastered the acquired competencies.

Course objective:

The student will participate in the daily in-hospital activities at a 2nd. and 3rd. level contexts, bringing all the basic knowledge on diagnosis, treatment and prevention. At the same time he/she will develop the technical, communication, and medical diagnostic skills to be able to help the critical ill pediatric patient and will learn how to comfort the caregiver with the highest prevailing values.
