Intención del curso en el contexto general del plan de estudios: |

|
Es un curso de nivel básico, que tiene la intención de que el estudiante conozca las diversas técnicas estadísticas y su aplicación en la biomedicina. Requiere conocimientos básicos de matemáticas y manejo de Excel. Como resultado del aprendizaje el estudiante analizará e interpretará los resultados estadísticos expuestos en artículos de investigación en medicina y ciencias de la salud. |

Objetivo general de la Unidad de Formación: |

| Al finalizar este curso el alumno comprenderá y aplicará las diversas técnicas estadísticas utilizadas en la investigación y la toma de decisiones en el área médica. Para ello, se considerarán los siguientes contenidos: estadística descriptiva; nociones básicas de probabilidad; distribuciones muestrales y elementos del muestreo; tópicos en estadística inferencial; y análisis de regresión. | |||||

It is a basic level course, aimed to provide knowledge of basic statistical techniques and their application in biomedicine. It requires previous knowledge in mathematics and Excel. As a learning outcome it is expected students to analyze and interpret statistical results presented in research articles. |

| Upon completion of this course, students will understand and apply biostatistical methods and concepts used in the research process and in decision making in public health. Topics include descriptive statistics, probability, sampling and sampling distributions, statistical inference, linear regression. | |||||
