Course intention within the general study plan context:  

Course objective:  

This course has been designed for students on the second basic course of Mandarin Chinese. There is a continued emphasis on phonetics and oral expression. Students are expected to continue practicing their ability to have simple conversations using simple sentences and they are expected to augment the number of basic Mandarin Chinese words they can read. Practice of the writing system and the four pronunciation tones of the Mandarin Chinese Language using the pin yin system will be continued.
